Canynge Place, Clifton – Landscape Design for a Landmark Redevelopment

We were appointed to deliver the landscape design for the conversion of Somerset House, a 1960s office building in the heart of Clifton, into a high-specification residential scheme known as Canynge Place. The project involved transforming a previously hard-edged, utilitarian setting into a refined and welcoming outdoor environment that complemented the building’s new residential use.

Our design introduced a calm and coherent landscape language, enhancing the approach to the building with structured planting, natural paving materials, and a softened building threshold. Careful attention was given to privacy, seasonal interest, and visual quality, while also incorporating subtle sustainable drainage features and EV-ready parking integration.

We worked closely with the architect and developer team to ensure the external spaces reflected the project’s vision – one that blends modern living with Clifton’s established character. The final design balances urban functionality with a gentle, green atmosphere suited to the site’s leafy residential context.
