City Garden

This Seed to Celebration is in a city garden. A management plan used for this garden explains how everything in the garden can be composted on-site. For instance, the composted-down waste is reused for feeding the plants, flowers are reused for decoration, and herbs for culinary uses.
A simple excel sheet with links to online content helps organise the information, including simple instructions on what to do with the compost system, and when to collect the herbs and flowers. The excel sheet is a shared document that is used by the gardener maintaining space, or the resident who wants cut flowers and herbs.

Large Garden

This Seed to Celebration is in a large garden. All the plants in the garden were to be used for either medicinal, decorative or edible purposes.

A wormery is used to create good quality worm castings, and this is used to grow new plants with the seeds that are collected. Worm casting is the best for growing seeds.

There is a lot going on with this garden, so all the information is saved in a management plan, with some helpful online links. This help organise all the ideas!

Small Allotment

This example shows how collecting seeds, composting and re-using herbs and flowers for a variety of purposes can happen in small groups on allotments.

Working with young people

The broad principles behind the Seed to Celebration concept are great for young people and children. Seed to Celebration has been used since Bristol Green Capital 2015 at primary schools in Bristol. We would love to offer out the Seed to Celebration a start-up kit to schools who are interested.

Working at Youth clubs

The experience working with young people, and on small allotments, has allowed us to promote the Seed to Celebration concept to small organisations such as youth clubs. The free information helps to get their sustainable project off the ground.

Making food and crafty gifts

We have ideas on what to do with the 16 plants in the book. In the summer there are ideas on what to do at a summer BBQ. In the winter we have ideas on how to make crafty gifts for Christmas. Interested in the book? Click here to download.
