Planting Carrots or Rocket

  • Dig your soil to a fine tilth, breaking up any large lumps.
  • Make drills by laying an old broom handle, or similar wood, with a rake or a small trowel, make a drill, a slit in the ground, 1cm deep.
  • The straight line should be the length of the bed (or approximately 2 metres).
  • Make the drill 1cm deep leaving 30cm between each drill.
  • Sprinkle your carrot seed thinly along the drill *
  • Pull soil from the edges of the drill back over your seeds so they are well covered.
  • Water the area with a good watering can with proper end
  • Keep the soil moist until germination, which should take about 10-20 days

* Use seeds saved from year before. If no seeds, buy from the shops.
